a futile attempt

in vain

to search for that which

comforts your broken heart

for the courage to muster

sad strength

to release your tortured soul

does it satisfy

your desire to know

does it open new doors

to an even deeper abyss

in which you plunge yourself into

helpless

aimless

thoughtless

no way out

and no sight of the end

falling

falling

What do you seek

was it fruitful

your search

did you find

what you came here for

did it put a smile on your face

knowing

realizing

awakening

or was that a frown

when you found out

knowing

is not understanding

realizing

is not enough for change

and awakening

cannot save you

from the nightmares

that make up your day

and night


What do you seek

why do you ask questions

of which the answers

you already know

why do you seek evidence

to prove a crime

you wish was never committed

to justify yourself

does it bring you peace

or is it

just another act

another cruel chapter

in this play they call

Life


The stage is set

the players are in position

curtains drawn

a new chapter unfolds

ask yourself

are your questions answered
