Zoo Negara, 29/9/09

Last day of my end-posting leave.

had a check list of things to do before I die/ join new posting (same).

1. Spend time with loved one...........check.

2. Spend time with friends...............check.

3. Spend time with nature...............hmmm.

So there.

Off to Zoo Negara.......

Come to think of it....I've been visiting Zoo Negara almost every year for the past 3 years.

That after like, what, an 18 year hiatus between my last visit during primary school?...

Anyway it's a nice place.

Lots of animals around (duh).

Great for beastality fetishists.

RM 15 for an entry ticket is no small sum....

Yo Wassup~

Old bird

upskirt

Respect man

Dunnowatdeeff buggis

Mainland Chinese kid in the aviary
In a heart touching moment, the kid emptied his water bottle into the pail so the big birdie could have a drink. Everybody smiled.

Then, in a heart-stopping turn, the kid held up his bottle, did a massive pullback, and hurled the bottle straight into the bird pond.

The Mainland Chinese entourage shuffled off sheepishly.

Effin tourists.

a young deer somehow managed to escape its enclosure and was wandering on the walkways surrounding the pit.
He came across a wild Belimbing tree and had a feast on the ripe fruits that littered the walkway.

Guess it's the first time in his entire life having dessert.....

Forbidden fruit

Was lucky enough to snap a quick pic of this insect - a Cicada.
Nature's most tragic life story and cruel joke rolled into one.

Did you know
After hatching, the cicada larvae burrows deep into the ground
where it spends 7 years maturing into it's adult form
then on one sunny summer day
the nymph emerges from the soil, and make its first and final ascent up the very same tree where it spent the last 7 years under

There, the nymph latches onto the bark, where the adult form, in it's full sparking glory, emerges from the carapace, and flies off into the air.

Here's where the joke starts.

After 7 years underground, 7 years in total darkness, 7 years of gruelling transformation from larvae to adult,

The adult Cicada has 7 days to live.

7 days to find a mate, reproduce, and ensure the continuation of it's species.

And then it dies.

And the cycle starts again.....

Such is the tragic life cycle of a Cicada.

So if you think your life sucks,

Think again.

Hey sexy

Camel....just in case it's hard to tell

bllerlloo.......

Laughing hyena not in a laughing mood today

Sumatran Tiger flashing me his pearly whites....
Took me half an hour of waiting for him to settle down at the right spot, look at the right direction, and flash his smile at the right time.

It was bloody well worth the wait.

Another bugger who made me wait long enough.....
Seriously, how hard is it to yawn???
Then again it was well worth the wait....
No questioning as to why this dude is the undisputed King of the Jungle...

Although here he seems to be just the King of the Bored.

Mama and baby goat

Er......handsome

Tiny wallaby like thingy

Toro nero

Will the Real Slim Shady please stand up

Took him 5 minutes to turn to face me

Lost and Found: Bob Marley

Great place to go if you:

a) love nature
b) love animals
c) have nothing else to do

as usual,

take nothing but photographs
leave nothing but footprints.

Now it's back to work.

HuHuHu T_T.......
