My newest baby - the prime EF 50mm f1.8 II.
like a box of chocolates
50mm f1.8
nice.....
AF still included
Being the cheapest lens in the entire Canon lineup, one really can't complain much about the flimsy built quality, the toy-like construction, the REALLY loud AF motor, the.....
S'long as it gets the job done, I'm happy.
And it does get the job done alright.
Night potrait shots are a breeze. The large f1.8 aperture allows for fast shutter speeds otherwise not possible on my previous standard zoom 18-200 f3.5-5.6. Details do come a tad soft wide open but once stopped down to ~2.2-2.8 sharpness is quite impressive. The really shallow depth of field does a good job making the subject stand out from the background - background blurring is pretty although bokeh quality does leave abit to be desired ( blame it on the rudimentary 5-blade aperture construction).
Will put up some shots by this baby once available k.
In the mean time.....
Giving my ol' faithful it's due credit.
