Project 50 - 1

Project 50 - 1:

MYOB: Macro-tize Your Own Bazooka!

Anybody who has ever bothered following these pages would surely know I am dying for a Macro lens. Yup, the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro is on top of my unlikely-to-come-true wish list now.

What is macro? Simply put, it it the photography of minute objects in real-life dimensions, with painstakingly sharp focusing on the tiny details of the subject.

How much is it? Well, if you have to ask, you can't afford it hahaha.....

So what to do in the meantime?

Make my own Pseudo-Macro lens!

Yup, picked this up from Davors the other day. By reverse-mounting the 50mm f/1.8 over the 18-200mm zoom lens, I was able to produce somewhat near-macro like effects with magnifications nearing 0.5x (I think). Not anywhere near true macro but hey, beggars can't be choosers right.

The downside? It was the most awkward assemble I can ever come across.

50mm + 200mm + 50mm body.

The result was a big, black, badass Bazooka a whole damn foot long.

Some people might actually be turned on by this. It's a strange and scary world.

Anyway, these are some of the images produced using this technique.

Amateurish, but satisfying. Me likey :)

Processing Project 50 - 2 now. Watch this space k.
